Michael Owen has thrown his weight behind Liverpool ahead of their UEFA Champions League (UCL) final clash with Spanish club Real Madrid. Michael Owen made his prediction on the Champions League final in a chat with the Daily Mail. According to the former Liverpool striker, Real Madrid might be blown away when they face the Reds at the Stade de France in Paris this weekend.

Liverpool will have too much quality for Real Madrid as revealed by Michael Owen. The Englishman predicted a 3-0 win or a 3-1 win for Liverpool.Owen said Real Madrid have done well to get to the final and they would believe their name is on the Champions League trophy this year. The onetime Ballond’or winner also warned Liverpool to be wary of the threat posed by Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian international has wrecked havoc on defences in the Champions League this season.

Real Madrid and Liverpool will contest the 76th edition of the European Cup/Champions League in Paris on Saturday with Spanish champions Real Madrid eyeing a remarkable 14th win. They have 13 titles thus making them the most successful team in Europe. Real Madrid have six more titles than AC Milan who are the second most successful team in Europe. The Rossoneri are on seven titles and they could be level with Liverpool if they overcome Real Madrid during the Champions League final later this week. Liverpool have the third most European Cup/Champions League titles (six).

Liverpool and Real Madrid have one win each from their two meetings in the history of European Cup/Champions League finals. The Reds won their first final meeting in 1981 via a 1-0 before Real Madrid won the second final meeting between the two teams in 2018 via a 3-1 scoreline. They are meeting in an European final for the third time.
